Introducing...Heidi Inderwies
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Heidi Inderwies, with long brown hair and...nah! Hey! My name is Heidi Inderwies, but of course you already knew that. As a junior at Newark Valley High School, I'm a hard-working student interested in a varitey of activities. I love to sing, perform in theater, play soccer, read, and volunteer in my community. I have a positive outlook on life and look forward to meeting new people and experience new ideas. I do my best to make others around me happy. After all, a smile never hurt anyone, it's just a little extra sunshine.
My strengths in school involve sceince, math, and music. I am going to major in forensic chemistry, and minor in music. Forensic chemisrty has been an interest of mine for several years. I don't want to work in the field, but rather in the lab, solving cases for the FBI, or other government facility. I do well in a demanding work environment. I'm up for a challenge. Additonally, I will minor in music. Music has always been a passion of mine, and so, I want to further my education in it. For this, I will attend Alfred State College for classes in forensics and will go to Alfred Unverstiy, a private college across town, for an education in music. I decidecd on Alfred because of the homey feeling it gave me, the feeling everyone should feel for the college of their choice. It also has the classes I want to take.
So far, I have taken classes in high school to support my acedemic interests. My entire high school career, and even since the first grade, I have been heavily involved in music. I've played in the school band since the fifth grade, playing French Horn. I taught myself trumpet during one summer, so I could take jazz band, but was unable to fit it in my shcedule. I have also taken piano lessons since first grade. I also been a member of chorus since the sixth grade. In addition to that, I was selected for some of our school's smaller ensembles, women's octet for four years and select choir for one year. In additon to this, I have attended several music competitions with these groups. As far as forensic chemistry is concerned, I have taken science classes for my entire high school career, and plan on taking an Advanced Placement Biology course my senior year. I have been a year ahead of my age level in math too. Also, I have completed an Advanced Placement Language and Composition course during my junior year. It strengthened my writing ability.
My personal life? Lots of friends, very active with sports, well soccer and tennis, and plenty of vollunteering for my community. I am a very active volunteer. In my community, I've been a full time volunteer since I was in sixth grade. Every festival put on in our town, I have aided in. I've worked with kids, adults, other volunteers, been a runner (delivery of materials such as money or supplies), and done set up and take down of the decorations. I have also volunteered at the local Bibleschool for kids for the past two years during the summer. I'm always up for voluteering. With all of my freinds equally involved in the community, we get to hang out while helping out. They will often call me up and offer an opportunity for me to volunteer with them. Whew! It's a lot of work, but so worth it. People love the festivals and events we put on, and that makes the work, and the loss of time, and the stressful planning, and the job itself, all worthwhile. With all of these activities and events, I have very little spare time, but I do manage to save some time for my social life. Next, I love my friends. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. My family and friends are like a backbone, supportive and a necessity for survival. They are a terrific group to be around. No bad influences! My soccer life is another treasure. I love playing the sport. It's a challenge, and a game. There's no other sport that makes me feel the way soccer does. Tennis is fun, but I don't do much, and it's not as perfect as soccer. I want to play soccer as long as I can, which, in this sport, isn't for the rest of my life, usless of course I don't mind a few hundred broken bones. But hey, that means I'll just have to have fun with it now, while I'm still young...ish. As for my family life...let's just say I'm the crazy one in my family. Climbing high in trees and going parasailing. Plus, a huge long list compiled of crazy things I want to do. For example, rock clinmbing, the serious kind, swimming with sharks in the Carribean, bungie jumping-that's near the top- sky diving, and so much more! There is so much I could do in my life, and so much I want to do. I want to live it! Call me crazy, I don't care. I'll be calling anyone who sits at home, doing nothing to live their life the way they want, crazy while I'm falling through the sky, plunging towards the ground. Then, I'll be praying for my parachute to open. So, that is me...mostly. And they all lived happily ever after...yeh right!
